Inventor Process, Inc. recently exhibited at Licensing Expo 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada. In its 35th year, Licensing Expo did not disappoint during its three-day stretch at Mandalay Bay’s Convention Center. Nearly 5,000 brands and product owners rolled out the red carpet for 16,000 licensing professionals.

The Mandalay Bay’s massive convention center was filled with the hottest brands and latest inventions, and Licensing Expo experienced a significant increase in international, manufacturing and retail attendance. It was the largest and most successful Licensing Expo ever.

How successful was Licensing Expo 2015? Consider this:

  • 16,150 licensing professionals in attendance, a 3% increase from 2014.
  • 6.6% increase in international attendance, it’s a global marketplace.
  • 15% increase in retailers, including: Amazon.com, Walmart, Target, Sainsbury’s, Hot Topic, BHS, Best Buy, and Tesco.
  • 460 companies exhibiting covering 232,000 sq-ft with 150 new exhibitors.
  • The launch of the Digital Media Licensing Summit.
  • 27% increase in press with 152 journalists in attendance. Media highlights included: The Wall Street Journal, ABC, Fox News and Telemundo
  • As a testament to the show’s success, 70% of the show floor is sold out for 2016.

We exhibited for two reasons. First, to assist our clients in securing licensing agreements for their inventions. Secondly, we’re constantly seeking to expand our network of trusted manufacturers, retailers and invention introduction specialists.

Licensing Expo was a tremendous success for Inventor Process in many ways:

  • We connected with hundreds of manufacturers, retailers, inventors and service providers.
  • Enrolled over thirty companies in our “first-look” program.
  • Established initial relationship with 52 new companies.
  • Multiple product reviews and licensing negotiations.
  • We’ve already booked our space for Licensing Expo 2016!

Why is licensing important to inventors? Licensing allows an inventor to move a new idea from concept to product on the retail shelves without making a major investment in new manufacturing. Inventors reap the benefit of licensing by enjoying royalty revenue and exposure on the retail market.

  1. How many licensing deals did you sign at the 2016 Las Vegas Licensing Expo? Do you think you can get me a deal? What is the cost?

    1. Hello Joe,

We’ve exhibited at Licensing Expo in 14, 15, 16 and plan to again in 2017. It’s the world’s premier licensing event! To directly answer your question, Licensing Expo 2015 lead to 3 direct deals out of the 18 products represented. And Licensing Expo 2015 is still paying dividends based on the relationships we established.

As Licensing Expo is literally the epicenter of the licensing world being regular exhibitors builds creditability and establishes lasting-relationships with major licensees. That’s why we exhibit and represent a small, select group of products that are appropriately suited for the event. By the way, sporting goods are one of those well-suited categories.
